It is reported that a 36-year-old man in Singapore was arrested on suspicion of selling e-cigarettes on the Telegram platform. The Health Sciences Authority seized e-cigarettes and accessories with a market value of about 17,000 yuan from the man's residence.

The Health Sciences Authority recently issued a statement saying that after receiving information about the sale of e-cigarettes, the authorities launched a raid on December 12 and searched the home of the man involved.

Personnel from the Health Science Bureau seized more than 1,000 e-cigarettes and related accessories, with an estimated market value of more than 17,000 yuan. The 36-year-old man involved is assisting authorities with their investigations.

The authorities take a serious view of illegal activities such as the sale of e-cigarettes and will severely punish offenders. Under the Tobacco Act, it is illegal to import, distribute or sell e-cigarettes and related accessories. First-time offenders can be fined up to $10,000, or jailed for up to six months, or both; repeat offenders can be fined up to $20,000, jailed for up to 12 months, or both.

Those who possess, use and purchase e-cigarettes may be fined up to 2,000 yuan.

Recently, the Health Science Bureau stated that in the next few months, they will also launch a joint operation with the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority to strictly inspect the entry of e-cigarettes.
