Shopee has announced that nine out of 10 Malaysians choose Shopee for safe online shopping, based on last week's #ShopSafeWithShopee survey.
Shopee said in a statement recently that survey results show that 80% of platform buyers or users believe they are aware of fraud or online shopping scams, and 20% have experienced fake purchases or encountered scams.
The survey also revealed that 30% of respondents had experienced online fraud in the past year, whereby they were tricked into purchasing homewares, fashion or lifestyle items, and electronics.
“When choosing an online shopping platform, the main factors that influence Malaysian buyers are that they have secure shopping transactions such as protected payment methods, clear returns and refund policies, genuine/approved products, and service solutions,”the statement said.
“This mainly involves respondents aged 35 to 49, while younger buyers aged 18 to 34 are more concerned about the platform's popularity (assuming the more people using the platform, the safer it is) and diversification Product Selection,” the statement said.
Shopee Malaysia's head of marketing Kenneth Soh said Shopee is committed to providing users with a safe online shopping experience.
“We have various initiatives in place to protect our users, including the Shopee Guarantee, Shopee Mall, and our dedicated support team.
"We are committed to creating a safe and protected environment for our users to have a pleasant shopping experience," he said.
The survey also found that eight out of 10 Malaysians believe Shopee provides the best support against fraud when shopping online.
