According to reports on March 20, Shopee recently released the latest research report on the shopping behavior of Generation Z. A survey of more than 2,400 shoppers by Kantar Profiles showed that nearly 70% of Gen Z in the region view e-commerce platforms as a key entry point in their shopping journey and rely on these platforms to research their purchasing behavior.

Despite exploring alternative channels for product research and discovery, the majority of Gen Z respondents (73%) complete their purchases on e-commerce platforms. It is worth noting that 56% of those who initially came into contact with social commerce platforms for research are more willing to return to e-commerce platforms to complete transactions.

Preference for e-commerce stems from several key factors, including a wide selection of products (79%), good product quality (77%) and convenient payment methods (59%).

Shopee's survey also revealed that one-third of Gen Z will spend at least five days researching their purchase, reading reviews and watching product demos (27%), reading product features and specifications (24%), and price Information (14%).

While they took the time to do in-depth research on their purchase, the seamless return and refund process, along with next-day delivery, became top shopping cart considerations.

In response to these changing shopping behaviors, Shopee is launching next-day and instant delivery in select markets and has expanded its returns policy to allow Change of Mind(COM) on more products and items throughout the shopping journey. Provides additional flexibility. This expanded COM policy will increase customer peace of mind and convenience and provide consumers with more choice and flexibility.
