The European Cross-border E-commerce market Reached 237 Billion Euros in 2023

According to news on May 7, recently, according to foreign media reports, the European online cross-border market transaction volume reached 237 billion euros in 2023, an increase of 32% over the previous year, and the cross-border turnover of online stores reached 107 billion euros.



Cross-Border Commerce Europe has released the latest European B2C cross-border retail TOP500 report. The report shows that the total online B2C transaction volume of European goods reached 741 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 13%, of which 32% came from cross-border sales.



It is worth noting that the cross-border turnover of the German e-commerce market performed outstandingly, reaching 43 billion euros, an increase of 28%. Cross-border sales in the UK hit a record low, down 1.8% year-on-year to 27.5 billion euros. Cross-border turnover in other European markets also increased significantly.



The data also shows that the cross-border turnover of the French market reached 32 billion euros in 2023, an increase of 30%. Spanish cross-border turnover reached 18 billion euros, an increase of 50%. The Dutch turnover reached 7 billion euros, an increase of 45%.



Large online cross-border retailers in Europe have experienced a decline in turnover due to an unstable economic environment and competition with multiple brands in China and the United States.

According to statistics, the gross merchandise volume (GMV) of Europe's top 500 companies fell by 18% to 50 billion euros in 2023. Among them, IKEA ranks first among European cross-border retailers, with cross-border sales reaching 5.2 billion euros. The top 10 together account for 19% of the top 500's total sales.
