Shopee has introduced a new shipping option under Shopee Supported Logistics (SSL) called Economy Delivery (Mail Drop). Starting 2 September 2025, the service will be supported by POS Malaysia and Flash Economy, giving sellers a low-cost way to deliver smaller parcels weighing up to 2kg.

Unlike standard delivery methods, Economy Delivery allows parcels to be delivered directly into buyers’ letterboxes, making it especially convenient for lightweight products such as accessories, beauty items, stationery, and small electronics.

Why Shopee Sellers Should Use Economy Delivery

1. Cheaper Delivery Rates

Economy Delivery is specifically designed for lightweight parcels of up to 2kg. Because of this, shipping costs are lower compared to standard courier services, allowing sellers to offer more competitive prices or maintain higher profit margins. This is especially useful for small items like accessories, cosmetics, stationery, or phone gadgets, where high shipping fees could otherwise discourage buyers.

2. Convenient Delivery Method

With Economy Delivery, parcels are delivered directly into buyers’ letterboxes, so recipients don’t need to be home to receive the package. This reduces failed delivery attempts, eliminates extra coordination with buyers, and ensures a smoother shopping experience for your customers.

3. Trusted Logistics Partners

Shopee partners with POS Malaysia and Flash Economy, both well-established logistics providers with nationwide coverage. This ensures that your parcels are handled by reliable couriers, giving you and your buyers peace of mind regarding delivery speed and parcel safety.

4. Smooth, Reliable Process

The service is fully integrated with Shopee’s system, so tracking is automatic and shipping fees are calculated accurately based on the parcel’s weight or volumetric weight. This reduces errors, prevents overcharged shipping fees, and simplifies the shipping workflow for sellers.

Pick-Up Eligibility and Restrictions

While Economy Delivery offers a convenient pick-up option, not all sellers automatically qualify. Shopee has set specific criteria to ensure that the service is used efficiently and fairly:

1. Minimum Average Daily Orders (ADO)

Sellers must have a minimum ADO of 10 paid orders per day to be eligible for pick-up. This ensures that pick-up services are allocated to sellers with sufficient daily volume, allowing logistics partners to plan their routes effectively. Sellers with lower order volumes can still ship via drop-off at the nearest branch.

2. Coverage Area Limitations

Pick-up is only available within the service areas of POS Malaysia and Flash Economy. If your shop’s location falls outside these zones, you won’t be able to schedule pick-ups and will need to use drop-off points instead.

3. Timeslot Scheduling

Pick-up times are arranged on a best effort basis depending on the courier’s daily route. While Shopee allows sellers to request preferred times, the final schedule is subject to the logistics partner’s availability.

Additional Important Notes:

  • Non-transferable: The pick-up service cannot be transferred to another Shopee account. Each seller account must meet the eligibility requirements independently.

  • Programme Compliance: Shopee reserves the right to remove sellers from the pick-up programme if they fail to meet the minimum ADO, violate rules, or misuse the service.

Parcel and Packaging Guidelines

When using Economy Delivery, it’s important for sellers to follow courier rules carefully, as parcels that don’t meet requirements can be rejected. Paying attention to size, weight, packaging, and item restrictions helps ensure smooth delivery and prevents delays or returns.

1. Parcel Size & Weight

  • Economy Delivery is designed for lightweight parcels, with a maximum weight of 2kg.

  • Parcels must also comply with the size limits set by POS Malaysia or Flash Economy. Oversized or overweight packages may be rejected, delaying delivery and potentially causing extra charges.

2. Packaging Rules

  • All parcels must be securely packed to withstand handling and transport.

  • Poorly packaged items risk damage, rejection, or return to the seller. Using sturdy boxes, bubble wrap, or protective materials is recommended, especially for fragile items.

3. Prohibited and Restricted Items

Accurate Product Information

When using Economy Delivery, shipping fees are calculated automatically by Shopee based on the actual weight or volumetric weight of the parcel, depending on which is higher. This makes it crucial for sellers to provide precise product details to avoid unnecessary costs.

Why Accuracy Matters:

  • If the weight or dimensions entered in your product listing are incorrect, Shopee’s system may calculate shipping fees higher than necessary. This is known as Overcharged Shipping Fees (OSF).

  • Over time, OSF can add up and impact your profit margins, especially if you sell lightweight products where small discrepancies in weight or size can make a difference.

Best Practices:

  • Measure your product accurately and include exact weight and dimensions in the listing.

  • Double-check for variations in size or packaging that might affect the total parcel weight.

  • Regularly update listings if packaging changes or new product variants are added.

By keeping product information accurate, sellers ensure that shipping fees are fair, predictable, and reflective of the actual parcel, which also improves buyer satisfaction with delivery estimates.
