It is reported that the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) will begin to socialize trade data and information from e-commerce platforms such as Tokopedia and Bukalapak through electronic systems, that is, request transaction data and information from these e-commerce platforms.

Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, acting head of the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), said that collecting transaction data is very important to help the government formulate evidence-based policy.

To collect the data, it took three years for the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) to draft the relevant regulations, involving many stakeholders, including ministries/agencies, associations, and PMSE organizers, until the regulations were finally announced in March 2023.

Amalia stressed that the data received by the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) will be kept confidential by Law No. 16/1997 and the United Nations Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics (UN Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics).

"We always keep confidentiality from upstream to downstream, and we guarantee that this is protected by law. In our internal business processes, we also ensure that every stage and every link is always safe and confidential."
