According to foreign media reports, the Malaysian Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has not yet made any decision requiring TikTok Shop sellers to obtain an e-commerce license in the country.

The KKD deputy minister said that before making a decision, they will first hold discussions with relevant ministries such as the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).

So far, KKD has not made any decision on whether TikTok Shop forces them to obtain a license.

"This is one of the things that we will discuss with other relevant ministries such as the KPDN. If there is any progress, I believe we will announce it at the appropriate time," he was responding to a question from PN-Kuala Kangsar whether the government would consider following the Indonesian government's lead. Action bans TikTok Shop in response to questions to protect local businesses.

The report said he had previously held meetings with TikTok, which revealed that 96% of TikTok Shop sellers were from Malaysia.

“This means that only 4% comes from abroad, and not only TikTok Shop can make money, but also the content providers who help promote the store, and they can profit from the content they create,” he added.
