In response to this policy, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), the Consumer Protection Committee and the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) jointly launched a special investigation.
The operation focused on the sale of lithium-ion batteries that did not obtain the Thai Industrial Product Standard Certification (TISI), especially those used in power tools such as electric drills and electric saws.
On December 18, the DSI and the Thai Industrial Standards Institute conducted surprise inspections on four large warehouses in the area after obtaining a search warrant from the Phra Pradaeng Court in Samutprakarn Province.
During the operation, 37,593 uncertified goods, including lithium batteries, power tools, adapters and high-pressure water guns, with a total value of more than 61.77 million baht, were seized. At the same time, computer equipment and related documents were also seized for follow-up investigations.
These actions violate the Industrial Standards Act 1968 and the Customs Act 2017, as well as other relevant laws and regulations.
