According to media reports on December 6, TikTok is recruiting for a number of e-commerce and logistics-related positions in EU countries. According to these job information, TikTok may establish a logistics center in Amsterdam and a marketing team in Dublin, or this is to prepare TikTok Shop to enter the European market outside the UK.

As of now, TikTok Shop is only available in the UK, the United States and some other Asian countries. In July 2022, due to internal problems and poor performance in the European and American markets, TikTok temporarily shelved its live broadcast e-commerce expansion in the European and American markets.

According to the report, in Amsterdam, the positions TikTok is recruiting include "senior fulfillment solutions manager." According to the job description, the role will be responsible for planning and designing logistics solutions for the UK and across the EU, which may also include establishing a network of logistics warehouses.

In Dublin, the positions TikTok is recruiting include "TikTok E-commerce - Automation and Self-Service Project Manager" and a "Partner Quality Assurance Specialist", both of which belong to TikTok's "E-commerce Management and Experience (GNE)" team; In Brussels, TikTok is recruiting an "e-commerce, ESG and trade policy analyst" to be responsible for observing political trends and debates that impact TikTok's current and future e-commerce business strategy in the EMEA region.

Reports show that TikTok has established logistics and e-commerce teams in Amsterdam, Dublin and other areas, and has poached many former Amazon employees.

For example, in Amsterdam, former Amazon employee Vignesh Suresh joined TikTok in August 2023 as "Senior Manager - Pricing and Revenue Strategy | E-commerce Logistics." Another former Amazon employee, Bob Groenveld, joined TikTok in 2022 as "QA search operations e-commerce."

It is worth mentioning that TikTok recently reached an agreement to invest in Tokopedia, the e-commerce unit of Indonesia's largest Internet company GoTo, and the two parties will also cooperate on an online shopping service. This cooperation may create a template for TikTok to provide TikTok e-commerce (TikTok Shop) services globally.
