Lazada Introduces “Search by Store Name” Feature for Sellers in Malaysia

Lazada has rolled out a brand-new feature that makes it easier for customers to find your store directly from the app’s search bar. This update is currently being piloted with selected top sellers, and it’s designed to help boost brand discoverability for stores with a strong presence and clear branding.

Here’s how it works and what sellers should know.

What Is the “Search by Store Name” Feature?

Lazada’s new “Search by Store Name” feature is designed to make your store more discoverable on the platform. Instead of browsing through multiple listings, customers can now find your store directly by typing its exact name into the search bar on the Lazada app.

When a shopper types your exact store name, Lazada will display a special store banner right in the search results. This banner highlights key information about your store, including:

  • Your follower count: to show your store’s popularity and credibility.

  • Total number of products: so customers can see how extensive your catalog is.

  • Hot search terms: which reflect the most searched or trending keywords within your store.

From that banner, customers can take two quick actions:

1. Tap “Visit Store” to open your store homepage directly, or

2. Click on any of the hot search terms to browse products related to that keyword in your store.

This feature is currently available only on the Lazada mobile app, so make sure your store branding and name are optimised for mobile search visibility.

How It Works

Here’s a quick look at how the “Search by Store Name” feature functions from a customer’s point of view:

1. The customer types your store name into the Lazada app’s search bar.

  • For this feature to activate, the store name must be typed exactly as it appears on your store.

2. If the name is an exact match, Lazada automatically shows a store banner in the search results.

  • This banner highlights key details such as your store’s follower count, total products, and top search keywords.

3. From the banner, customers have two choices:

  • Tap “Visit Store” to go directly to your store homepage, or

  • Tap one of your hot search terms to instantly browse products related to that keyword.

This streamlined experience helps customers find your store faster, especially returning buyers who already know your brand name. It also increases your store’s visibility and traffic, particularly during major sales campaigns like 12.12, when competition on the platform is at its peak.

Who Is Eligible?

At the moment, the “Search by Store Name” feature is still in its pilot phase. Lazada is currently testing it with a selected group of Top 12.12 campaign sellers who already meet the platform’s Store Naming Policy requirements.

This means only sellers with compliant, properly formatted store names are currently eligible to appear in search results when customers type their exact store name.

If you don’t see this feature active for your store yet, don’t worry. Lazada has confirmed that the rollout will happen in stages, gradually expanding to include more sellers over time.

To prepare, make sure your store name follows all Lazada’s naming guidelines now so that once the feature reaches your account, your store will automatically qualify to appear in search.
