According to foreign media reports, on October 31, Isy Karim, Director of Domestic Trade of the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, stated that TikTok Shop will not reopen in November because it has not yet applied for an e-commerce license.

Isy conveyed this news in response to rumors in the market that TikTok Shop will resume operations in November after being banned by the government in early October.

"TikTok has not applied yet. Many friends say that TikTok Shop has reopened, but it has not at all," Isy said.

Isy further explained that Meta-owned Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp have applied for licenses as social commerce.

"The three platforms are only registered as portals and social media, and Meta Group has not yet obtained a social commerce license."Now, Meta Group has also applied for a license for social commerce, with the platform only acting as a promotional medium and not conducting transactions.

“It is applying for social commerce, just for promotion, there is no e-commerce transaction, and there are still a few documents to fill out at the moment,” Isy said.

Isy emphasized that any platform conducting trade transactions in Indonesia must have an e-commerce license, and companies or platforms must have PT and NPWP to register an exchange in Indonesia.

“Now the application only takes 2-3 days to complete, because now everything can be done online, as long as you meet the relevant requirements, for example, if you want to do e-commerce, you must have a business entity in the country, and at the same time Having PT, NPWP,” Isy said.
