Shopee Philippines has announced that it will strictly monitor "Checkout Only" listings. These listings will be classified as misleading and fraudulent ("Spam Listings").
Please note that if a transaction is completed outside of the Shopee platform, Shopee will not be able to assist with disputes (returns, refunds, or unpaid goods upon delivery).
1. What is Shopee "checkout only" product?
"Shopee Checkout Only" is a term used by some sellers, notably those on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, to describe a method in which a buyer pays for the item directly to the seller first, and then the seller creates a separate, sometimes low-cost, product on Shopee for the buyer to checkout with. This enables the customer to use Shopee's official payment and shipping method, frequently at a lower cost, without having to exchange personal information with the seller directly for delivery.
2. Why Shopee prohibits "checkout only" products?
Shopee restricts "checkout only" products because they violate its principle of using the platform for actual e-commerce transactions rather than just as a courier service.
This approach, which is commonly utilized to avoid costs or execute transactions off-platform, is prohibited and may result in penalties such as listing deletion and penalty points for sellers. It can also have a negative influence on user experience by failing to represent accurate product prices, causing confusion about shipping alternatives, or directing consumers to complete transactions outside of the app, which is a breach of terms.
3. What should Shopee Sellers adhere?
Shopee specifically specifies three rules that sellers must adhere to.
1. Do not list products on Shopee solely for shipping.
Using Shopee as a logistics channel and uploading products solely for shipping will result in their removal and sellers will be penalized.
Example: Products displaying "For Shopee checkout only" or "Checkout Lane."
2. Prohibit "Payment first" prompts or directing buyers to off-Shopee transactions.
Requiring payment before checkout or directing buyers to off-Shopee transactions is prohibited. Including these instructions in product titles and/or descriptions will result in product removal and penalties for violators.
3. Indicate the price of the product.
Product listings must reflect the actual price at which the product was sold. This rule also applies to products sold during live streaming. Failure to indicate a price will result in product removal and sellers will be penalized.
Conclusion:
Please note that if a transaction is completed outside of the Shopee platform, Shopee will not be able to assist with disputes (returns, refunds, or unpaid goods upon delivery).
